Samudra Timur Sdn Bhd (“STSB”), a wholly-owned subsidiary of KSTB was incorporated as a private limited company in Malaysia, and commenced operations specialising in the supply of tools and equipment to the oil and gas industry.
KSTB was incorporated under the name of Intel Paint (M) Sdn Bhd on 16 July 1985, and subsequently changed its name to Kejuruteraan Samudra Timur Sdn Bhd ("KSTB"). KSTB initiated business with the supply of corrosion protection systems, and instrumentation systems and monitoring equipment for the oil and gas sector.
KSTB and STSB expanded their respective business portfolios, moving into the provision of tubular handling equipment and running services as well as providing tubular inspection maintenance services for companies in the oil and gas industry.
STSB set up two plants, one in the Kemaman Supply Base in Terengganu and the other the Asian Supply Base, located in Labuan, Sabah providing services for Oil Country Tubular Goods (“OCTG”) maintenance, complete with grit-blasting, coating and inspection facilities.
Machine shop at the Jakar Industrial Estate in Kemaman, Trengganu was established for the purpose of providing engineering services to the Group and to contractors operating at the Kemaman Supply Base.
KSTB converted its status from a private limited company to a public limited company and assumed its present name.
KSTB was listed on the Second Board of Bursa Malaysia Securities Berhad.
KSTB acquired the wholly-owned subsidiary, Sobena Offshore Inc Sdn Bhd (“SOISB”). SOISB has its mainstray in threading pipes and couplings for the oil and gas industry.
KSTB incorporated a wholly-owned subsidiary, KST International Ltd. (“KSTIL”) in September 2005 and commenced its operation in Charter Hiring of Land Drilling and Workover rigs, with business largely conducted via a Project Office in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India.
