Tan Sri Dato’ Dr Syed Jalaludin bin Syed Salim
Tan Sri Dato’ Dr Syed Jalaludin bin Syed Salim, a Malaysian, is an Independent Non-Executive Director and the Chairman of KSTB. He was appointed to the Board on 13 October 2005. He graduated as a doctor of philosophy from London University and has bee conferred five more Honorary Doctorate Degree from Hull University, United Kingdom; Soka University, Japan; Thaksin University, Thailand; Open University Malaysia and Universiti Malaysia Perlis.
Tan Sri's career in academic began in 1969 until 2001 and has brought about many improvement and innovation in the higher education and research sectors in Malaysia. In recognition of his contribution, he has been bestowed with the National Science Laureate in 1993 and National Academician in 2008. Tan Sri has also been conferred the Emeritus Professor by Universiti Terengganu Malaysia and Universiti Putra Malaysia. He is also one of the fellow founders of the Malaysia Science Academy. Even though Tan Sri has retired from the institutions of higher education, he is still contributing to the higher education sector as the chairman of several universities namely Universiti Putra Malaysia and Universiti Tun Abdul Razak. For his vast contributions to the country's development, Tan Sri has been conferred the Panglima Setia Mahkota (P.S.M.) and Johan Setia Mahkota by Seri Paduka Baginda Yang DiPertuan Agong, Darjah Dato' Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah (D.S.S.A) by DYMM Sultan of Selangor and Darjah Dato' Paduka Mahkota Perlis (D.P.M.P) by DYMM Raja Perlis.
Tan Sri is also active in the corporate sector and holds several posts in the public and private sectors. He is currently heading the Halal Development Corporation (HDC) as its Chairman and also the Chairman of Bank Kerjasama Rakyat Malaysia Berhad and a Director of ESSO Malaysia Berhad and TAFI Industries Berhad.
Dato’ Chee Peck Kiat @ Chee Peck Jan
Dato’ Chee Peck Kiat @ Chee Peck Jan, a Malaysian, is a Non-Independent Executive Director of KSTB. He was appointed to the Board on 9 February 1987. He holds a Postgraduate Master in Public Administration from State University of New York, Albany, U.S.A. He was a Lecturer in the Faculty of Economics and Administration in the University of Malaya. He is the co-founder of KSTB Group and has played a cardinal role, and has been involved in formulating corporate strategies and plans of the Group. He also co-founded M3nergy Berhad [Formerly known as Trenergy (Malaysia) Berhad], and oil and gas company listed on the Main Board of Bursa Malaysia Securities Berhad under his leadership. He currently sits on the Board of many private companies in industries related in the travel agency, holiday resort, manufacturing and investment holding.
Mohammad bin Ayob
Mohammad bin Ayob, a Malaysian, is an Independent Non-Executive Director of KSTB. He was appointed to the Board on 21 November 1996. He graduated from University Malaya on 29 June 1968 with a Master of Science qualification in Geology. He started his career as a Lecturer with University Malaya in 1968. He joined state controlled oil major Petrolium Nasional Berhad ("PETRONAS") in 1975 as a Geologist and was promoted to Area Manager in 1977. In 1978, he became the Exploration Manager in PETRONAS and subsequently promoted to General Manager of Exploration and Production in 1984, a position he held until his retirement in 1987 and thereafter he joined the private sector of the oil and gas industry.
Dato’ Nik Abdul Aziz bin Mohamed Kamil
Dato’ Nik Abdul Aziz bin Mohamed Kamil, a Malaysian, is an Independent Non-Executive Director of KSTB. He was appointed to the Board on 12 September 1997. He graduated from the University of Malaya in 1966 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree. He subsequently obtained a Postgraduate Diploma in Personnel Management and a Master in Management from the Middlesex University in England and the Asian Institute of Management in Philippines respectively. He also attended the Senior Executive Programme at the London Business School. Dato’ Nik has over thirty-six (36) years of working experience in human resource management. He had been in the senior management of PETRONAS since 1987 until his retirement. In 1997, he set up his own business, NA & Associate Sdn. Bhd., a company involved in human resource training and skills management. Other than KSTB, he also serves on the Board of Acoustech Berhad.
Ishak @ Abd. Rahman bin Mohamad
Ishak @ Abd. Rahman bin Mohamad, a Malaysian, is an Independent Non-Executive Director of KSTB. He was appointed to the Board on 1 December 2003. He pursued a diploma course from the Institute of Cost and Managements Accountants (now known as Chartered Institute of Management Accountant) at Institut Teknologi Mara from 1966 to 1970 before completing the Final Part V at the University of Aston in Birmingham, England. He started his career with the Accountant General Department. After which, he served with Pernas Securities Sdn. Bhd. where he gained the requisite experience in finance and secretarial work and then Pernas Sime Darby Holdings Sdn. Bhd. where he was exposed to trading, manufacturing and corporate work environment. In 1978, he established MIT Holdings Bhd. (now known as Mutiara Goodyear Development Berhad) but only joined full time in 1982 after resigning from Pernas. He is a member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants since 30 June 1988. Other than KSTB, he also serves on the Board of Mutiara Goodyear Development Berhad.
Tengku Aniza binti Tengku Ab. Hamid
Tengku Aniza binti Tengku Ab. Hamid, a Malaysian, is a Non-Independent Non-Executive Director of KSTB. She was appointed to the Board on 1 December 2003. She is an experienced practising quantity surveyor and had been a member of the Institute of Surveyors of Malaysia since 1989. She is also a member of the Board of Quantity Surveyor of Malaysia.
Darmendran Kunaretnam, a Malaysian, is a Non-Independent Executive Director of KSTB. He was appointed to the Board as Non-Executive Director on 26 February 2009 and was then re-designated as Executive Director on 24 August 2009. He was appointed Chief Financial Officer of KSTB Group before appointed as Director. He graduated from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia with a Business Degree majoring in Accounting. He is also a member of Malaysian Institute of Accountants and Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He spent 10 years as a Group Manager in the Audit Division of international public accounting firm from 1985 to 1995.
He joined Gold Bridge Engineering & Construction Berhad ("Gold Bridge") as the General Manager of Finance and Corporate Planning Division in 1996 and successfully listed Gold Bridge on the main board of Bursa Malaysia Berhad. He currently sits on the board of Gold Bridge. Mr. Darmendran went on to restructure and list Safeguards Corporation Berhad ("Safeguards") on the Bursa Malaysia Berhad in June 1997. He was later appointed to the Board of Safeguards in August 1997.
Onn bin Mohd. Yusoff
Onn bin Mohd. Yusoff, a Malaysian, is a Non-Independent Executive Director. He was appointed as an Executive Director of the Company on 27 November 2007. He graduated with a Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering in 1976 and obtained a Master in Engineering (Aeronautical) from Institute of Technology Bandung, Indonesia in 1978. He is a member of Professional Engineer, Board of Engineers Malaysia and Fellow of the Institute of Engineers of Malaysia. He started his career in Royal Malaysian Air Force in 1978 serving for 5 years and was promoted to the rank of Major (Retired). Following that he pursued a career in the oil and gas industry to the present date. He has about thirty (30) years of continuous working experience serving in multinational companies, namely military, EXXON, SHELL and PETRONAS. He joined the Company as a Chief Operating Officer on 5 February 2007.
Leong Chee Keong
Leong Chee Keong, a Malaysian, is an Independent Non-Executive Director of KSTB. He was appointed to the Board on 27 November 2007. After completing his secondary education, he started his career with a printing equipment company as the Marketing Manager and was based in Singapore from 1970 to 1975. He completed his Marketing & Public Relations course at Stamford Executive Centre, Singapore. He was then attached to one of the Japan’s largest trading house, Kanematsu – Gosho Ltd. and held a senior management position from 1976 to 1986. He also completed his Management and Marketing training in Tokyo and Osaka, Japan in 1977. He is the Chief Executive Officer of Safeguards Oceanic Holdings Sdn. Bhd. and its group of companies since 1981 and Managing Director of Prima Utama Holdings Sdn. Bhd. since 1988. His present activities in various companies involved in trading, logistics, food & beverage and the hospitality industry.
